Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain is pain in your lower abdomen. It can be mild or severe, constant or intermittent, and can sometimes be associated with sexual intercourse (dyspareunia). Pelvic pain can be a normal part of menstruation and ovulation or it can be caused by more serious disorders, including anything from appendicitis or bowel disorders to infections, fibroids, cysts, endometriosis, or ectopic pregnancy.

Most pelvic pain is treatable or at least manageable, and it is important to rule out the more serious causes. In an open conversation with your provider, you can determine the most likely causes of your pain and the testing needed to rule in or rule out different problems.
